Two things: [17 Jan 2007|11:25pm]
#1. My cardboard chair was due today. I liked it, here's a picture.

#2. I GOT MY MACBOOK. O M GGGGG!!!!! It is incredible. I am such a nerd to be so in love with a piece of technology BUT I REALLY AM. I installed XP with some help and downloaded Microstation which is the CAD program I need for school and was the whole reason I had to get a new computer. It runs smoothly on XP and my only complain about Bootcamp is that I didn't know I'd have to restart every time I wanted to switch OS. Also, I had no idea that I had to "partition" the "hard drive" aka completely split my harddrive in half between XP and Mac, and I won't be able to open files from one OS on the other. This is kind of a bummer and I didn't realize it before I bought the computer, BUT, it will just force me to concentrate on school when I have school work to do, and concentrate on myspace and PHOTOBOOTH when I'm not doing school work, HELL YEAH INTERNET. Here is what I look like right now, fresh out of the shower, in my bed, about to go to bed. THE FUTURE IS NOW!

One more thing... [16 Jan 2007|01:51pm]
These chairs combine pretty much everything I love about furniture. It's only $9000, does anyone want to pick one up for me?

What won't Frank Gehry do? [16 Jan 2007|01:34pm]
His most recent project (I think?), for the Foundation Louis Vuitton in Paris. WTF?

To be honest I'm not really that impressed with his cardboard chairs. I mean, I guess they're alright but the fact that they're cardboard is just like an afterthought. Pictures of my cardboard chair to be posted in the not too distant future.

And while I'm talking about chairs, check out this sick cantilever couch by Marcel Breuer:

You You You Oughta Know [24 Dec 2006|11:18pm]
Attitudes by Marie et Les Garcons
Influenced by the Talking Heads and Television, this group of four recorded the single Rien à dire in 1977. Marie played the drums and Patrick Vidal was the singer. In 1978 they travelled to New York to record the famous Re Pop (Ze Records) under the management of John Cale. A posthumous album came out in 1980 including previously unreleased pieces.
(from francomix)

My little tidbit: Marie et Les Garcons are a band I was introduced to a few months ago by one of my favorite DJs at WKDU, Scott (check out his show Thursday mornings from 7am-9am !) who knew I was into ye-ye and thought I'd be into them. Well, they are totally unlike the music France was known for in the sixties but is totally rockin. "Re-Bop" is my favorite song by them, so I have YSI-ed it for you, the Livejournal populus (I'm not really sure how YSI works but I think I did it right? Lemme know if it's not working and you wanna hear!)

My friend Dan just gave me Attitudes on vinyl for Christmas which revived my love of this band (thanks, hombre!) Hope you all like it as much as I do, and if people are into it I can continue YSI-ing some rare French stuff cuz that's what I'm into and I wish more people were into it with me!!

Marie et Les Garcons: Re-Bop

(also thank you Alanis Morisette for the title, 1 luv)

"retail therapy" [17 Dec 2006|03:15pm]
so all of a sudden i have been really inspired to make things again, as well as write, read, draw, etc. i attribute this to being surrounded by incredibly creative, artistic people, whose work has motivated me to "do stuff" again. my "creativity" always ebbs and flows and i feel like the majority of this year, after having moved back to philadelphia until about now, i have been pretty uncreative.

that being said, it's almost christmas time. all i've asked my parents for was a new rear wheel+rim+hub+pedals for my bike because aside from bike related stuff i don't really "need" anything. a tv would be nice to have in my room, i guess, but i'm hardly ever here and when i am i feel like i should be doing something more productive than watching tv. i think i may be traveling to russia this spring with my grandmother, which i assume is going to be her present to me (st. petersburg and moscow!!!! to see my all time favorite style of architecture, yesyesyes) BUT, if i could be totally greedy and spoiled and could get anything i wanted (but had no real need of) here is a lil' list of what i'd want. (OR: "retail therapy")

free people lambswool tunic jumper which is a mere $34.99, marked down from $98! at urban outfitters. i have been trying to wear alot of longer, tunic-length tshirts and sweaters, not because they are trendy (though i guess they kind of are) but mainly because my favorite pair of pants are kind of small and the zipper never stays up, so tunic length covers that. haha, why am i writing about this on live journal?!? but yeah, this jumper is cute and i am all about jumpers (like in the 3rd eye blind song you know which one i'm talking about right??)
lux stripe shift dress for $19.99!! my eyes bugged outta my skull when i saw the price on this because it is so classy and looks so tailored and pretty and i would love it so why is it marked down so much?? what a bargain.
fold over bootie (haha) $48. they are simple but cute and look like they would fare well in the cold/slushy philadelphia winter
threadless tshirt $25. i dunno if this is my favorite because there are so many good ones

okay, that's all for now, i'm getting sleepy and bored with making this. i think i'm going to take a nap because i have to stay up all night and catch a train at 5am tomorrow morning. oh and how good is the new clipse ?! (hell hath no furbies ??) especially mr me too , even though (like aforementioned joanna newsom) it's not really that "new" anymore, whatever

oh, and i changed the layout a lil bit, check it out.
